Popsicle Stick Fall Frames

Supplies

  1. Popsicle sticks
  2. Glue stick/Hot Glue (for parent use)/School Slue
  3. Markers, Paint pens, Watercolor paint, or Tempera paint
  4. Fall-themed small items (leaves, acorns), Leaves, Pipe cleaners, Ribbons, Stickers, Craft moss
  5. Photo or Picture (optional)

Instructions

  1. Set aside at least eight popsicle sticks per frame.
  2. Paint/draw on the sticks as individual items now, or wait until assembling to paint as a whole.
  3. Set two (or three) popsicle sticks side by side. Put a small amount of glue on the edges to help hold together.
  4. Do step 3 with another set of sticks.
  5. Place the two sets of sticks face down (if decorated) about one popsicle stick length apart. These form two sides of the frame.
  6. Take another stick (undecorated), and put a bit of glue near each end on the flat surface.
  7. Place that stick, glue-side down, to cross the others at their ends to form the third side of the frame.
  8. Take another stick, put glue near each end, and also on one thin edge.
  9. Place that stick, flat glue sides down and out, next to the one from step 8.
  10. Add a third stick next to the ones from steps 8 and 9 if desired.
  11. Repeat steps 6 through 10 for the fourth side of the frame.
  12. Set the frame aside to allow the glue to dry (place a book on top to keep it flat): 15 minutes for glue stick, 5 for hot glue, and an hour for school glue. The frame might be fragile!
  13. Once dry, flip over the frame.
  14. Time for more decoration! Paint, add stickers, glue on fall items like acorns, even write a name or happy words like "Fall Fun!"
  15. Add the picture! Measure the photo (or picture) against the front of the frame. Cut it to just a little bit bigger than the front opening.
  16. Put a little bit of glue on the (front side) top and bottom edge, and stick the picture to the back of the frame so it shows through the front.
  17. Cut a 4" piece of yarn, make a loop, and glue the ends onto back of the top popsicle stick so it can hang it as an ornament or from a bulletin board. (Optional, glue a magnet to the back).
